Uploading VideoThief page is a good occasion to make a note that it's amazing that now in 2005 I still get e-mails concerning a piece of software started back in 1995.

That's fucking incredible, sweetheart! More news: today I've been contacted by an IT person from one of respectable St.Petersburg companies, - you know what?, - they still use the astonishing piece of software I've written somewhere back in 1994-1995 (!). So it's one more lesson to learn: never ever write the bad code. To quote the requiem: Judex ergo cum sedebit quidquid latet apparebit: nil inultum remanebit. ????, ????!!!

Hi. VideoThief is one of the: + best + fastest but smallest (while grabbing it just grabs raw video data... no conversion to common graphics formats will be done --> this makes grabbing really fast and small. After building screenshots you can convert the .vtf files with raw video data to bitmap files using "vtfview".) + freeware Screengrabber / screenshot utility / snapshot program + for all text and video modes in DOS. And it is open source. :D :D :D GREAT!!!!!!!! Furthermore it seems to be the last DOS screenshot utility where you can reach the author. Programs like + Prograb + PCXDUMP + ScreenThief are death and there seems to be no source codes available for the mentioned tools. :( Well, one thing is missing in VideoThief: VideoThief is able to capture text mode screens, but the current VideoThief-->"vtfview" version is not able to convert text mode screens to bitmaps. Suggestion: In text mode, VideoThief should capture text data and currently loaded DOSFont(s) (dosfonts are provided by VideoBIOS, if you do not load any code pages ;-) DOSFonts are stored in the 0...1MB area-->in the mirrored VGABIOS area: c000-cfff). After grabbing, Vtfview should take the dosfont(s) and the text data from the vtf file and combine it to a bitmap file.
